I Miss My Tiny Goat

Last night I dreamed that someone gave me a tiny goat. It was about the size of a Chihuahua, with fur like a poodle. It purred when I picked it up and held it. And it never needed to eat, poop, or pee. It didn’t bark, bleet, howl or damage the furniture. In short, it was the perfect tiny goat. I believe he loved me, but not in a creepy physical way.

Have you ever had dreams where you miss someone after you wake up? I don’t know if I should be happy about the quality time I spent with my tiny goat or unhappy because I won’t get to see him again. I know I miss him.

My most persistent dream involves flying. I have a version of that dream about once per year. Each year I can fly a little better than the time before. It starts with the ability to hop long distances as if on the moon. The next year I can hover in place. After that, I can fly around indoor, and the year after I’m zooming into space and back. The following year my dream resets to mere hopping and the cycle begins anew.

As dreams go, it’s a mixed bag, because while I love the thrill of flying, the dream also involves other people not being impressed one bit. That element is always there. Let me tell you from experience that if you are the only person on earth who can fly, and no one cares enough to put you on the news, it really pisses you off. Still, the flying is excellent.

When I have the flying dream, I interpret it as an omen of impending extreme good luck, and reality has often cooperated. To be fair, my life has had enough extreme good luck that the next batch is typically in the pipeline anyway. I could choose to interpret the dream as a reminder to appreciate the good things in life, and that would fine too. But I like to get a little extra by imagining I have psychic powers and then when the next good thing happens it feels like I really do. I typically spend the rest of the day squinting at attractive women to see if I also have x-ray vision. It’s the sort of thing you have to test once in a while.

If you remember your dream from last night, describe it in one or two sentences. (No one wants to read more than that.) Let’s see what kind of freaks are reading this blog.
