Yesterday I learned how to know which one of the wall outlets is controlled by the switch. The controlled outlet is installed upside down, and only one of the two plug holes is controlled. At least that’s true on new construction where I live. BOCTAOE. This is the sort of marginally useful information that one feels the need to share with the world.
Here’s another one. Do you know the easiest way to take the skin off a clove of garlic? First you remove one clove from the bunch. Then chop the two ends off the clove and place a large knife (like a butcher knife) flat on top of it. Now smack the top of the knife (the flat side, YSLE) with the heel of your hand. If you manage to avoid cutting your hand off, this move totally loosens the skin from the partly crushed clove, and it peels right off.
An hour ago I discovered another helpful fact. My radio/alarm puts off heat while sitting there waiting to wake me up. I had carelessly tossed a sweatshirt on top of it and later found the garment warmed precisely to my liking. On cold days, I plan to leave my sweatshirt on top of the alarm/radio when I go to sleep so it’s all toasty when I get up. Mmm-mmm.
Do you have any marginally useful tips to share? I think you do.
