In my book, THE RELIGION WAR, I predicted that terrorists would start using GPS-guided drones (model-sized unmanned airplanes) to bomb stuff from a distance. It just makes sense. The technology exists and it doesn’t cost that much. You can launch a drone from anywhere and make it fly precisely to anywhere else.
Israeli intelligence officials say that Hezbollah now has Iranian-made drones. Israel first thought that one of them attacked their missile ship, but it turned out to be a regular Iranian missile.
Still, the terrorists have drones with explosives, according to Israel. You have to think that those will become more popular than iPods.
This puts Israel in their toughest situation yet. Those exploding drones will be coming from every direction, since Israel is pretty much surrounded by places that terrorists can operate. The wall won’t stop them. The air force can’t stop them. And there’s too much capitalism at stake to turn off the satellites that guide the drones.
I predict all-out regional war unless someone invents a drone-stopping ray gun. Or the GPS satellites can somehow exclude Israel.
I don’t think the next war will follow the model of conquer-then-occupy. We know that doesn’t work. Israel is more likely to just blow up the power plants and food and water supplies in Syria and Iran and let nature do the rest. They might also spread the rumor that Mullahs are edible.
