Comic Artist Wanted

Are you an excellent artist who is willing to work for practically nothing just to get some attention? Then I have a deal for you.

The syndicated comic strip Unfit is looking for someone to take over the artwork. If you’ve seen the strip, you know it’s a great concept with lots of potential, but the artwork is holding it back. See for yourself at:

If you’re interested in applying for the position, just redraw any of the recent Unfit comics already on the web, using your own poses and perspective, and send it along with your resume to the creator, Mike Belkin at [redacted]. Don’t copy the existing style. Make it entirely your own look. And if you think it needs a cute animal or kid, toss one of those in there too.

You don’t need to make your comic the same size as the original, but just so you know, the originals are drawn at 4” x 13”.

I’ll be helping Mike sort out the applicants. And I’ll post the better ones on this blog so you can help decide too.

The artist who is selected, if any, will get a cut of the revenue from newspapers and web syndication of Unfit. At the moment that wouldn’t keep you in tube socks. You’d be betting on the future. But you will get a lot of attention, both on this blog and with whatever publicity is generated.

I’ll also work with Mike and the new artist to make the strip more cruel, bizarre, cute, recognizable, clever and naughty.

Applications will be accepted through January 30th. Only e-mail submissions will be considered.
