Many Americans want a fence on the Mexican border to keep out illegal aliens. Israel is building a fence to keep out terrorists. Saudi Arabia is considering a fence to keep out Iraqis.
How do I invest in fences?
It seems to me only a matter of time before someone makes the following connection:
1. Iraq is full of terrorists.
2. Terrorists don’t have their own airplanes.
3. Terrorists are not good leapers.
Can’t we just put a fence around Iraq and hope they turn into Australians over time? We might be on the verge of the best sting operation ever, now that we’ve cleverly tricked most of the terrorists into congregating.
If all the terror-fighting countries dropped everything and went balls-to-the-wall, every hand on deck, top priority, how long would it take to fence in Iraq? It seems like it would be cost-effective compared to letting all of those terrorists someday get out.
Unemployed Iraqis could do most of the work. That would jump-start the economy. Then, after the civil war sorts itself out, the winning Iraqi dictator will wipe out al-Qaeda in about an hour.
Okay, okay, you don’t have to tell me all the reasons this plan won’t work. I only mention it so you can compare it to whatever comes out of the upcoming Baker Report on Iraq. I’m trying to be optimistic but I have a feeling it won’t be much better than the fence plan.
By the way, I’m off of caffeine until I recover from the flu. So if my posts seem to suck lately, it’s probably not your imagination.
